The Human Augmented Sensing Group at Bell Labs-Research invites applications for a research scientist staff position in computing sciences. The Group has a long tradition of excellence in research and currently consists of 8 staff members with expertise in algorithmic and computing sciences, stochastic networks, information theory and machine learning. Candidates will have a strong and proven background in computing sciences and related fields and a natural interest in innovatively applying fundamental tools and methods in focused problem areas.
The successful applicant will conduct high quality research in computing sciences and its applications to computational biology, data science and machine learning. Primary duties and responsibilities:
Perform research in math and computing science disciplines, such as computational biology, machine learning, algorithm design and development, large-scale optimization, computational methods for large data sets and complex networks
Present research findings through papers and oral presentations both within the organization and to the external research community
Apply expertise in computing sciences and its fundamental tools to business problems in emerging data science, such as data analytics
Actively participate in new and challenging application areas that arise in the analysis and optimization of data from communications and networking businesses and participate in team efforts
Candidates must either hold a recent PhD in CS, computational and applied math, OR, EE, or related fields (eg, computational physics and chemistry), may be in the final year of their PhD program or be completing limited-term postdoctoral research.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
