Owns the GCP Practice Update/JUNEO technology ecosystem including additional products such as Article Service, digi-editions, journal scans, HCP identity management and resource centers. Supports VP Program Management in envisioning, defining and developing technology strategy across all GCP products. Proactively engages with stakeholders to understand and recommend improvements to business processes and technologies. Brings a positive, problem-solving approach to the overall objective of using technology to improve the business results, business processes and work done by stakeholders. Consults with and coaches the Technical Product Lead for MedReprints and provides business and technical expertise. Partners with the PU/JUNEO product manager to envision appropriate technology to transform and upgrade the current technology stack to modern, Elsevier standards. Builds a strong collaborative relationship with all product managers to determine the strategic roadmap for the systems, taking into account market demands as well as stakeholder needs in their day to day processes. Demonstrates independent leadership and takes initiative. Drives innovation for new data analytics products within GCP. Proactively communicates system changes, enhancements, release status, outages and all other system statuses with stakeholders and business users. Leads the GCP PU/JUNEO technology team with complete management responsibilities to include performance management, hiring, and coaching of staff. Demonstrates advanced understanding of major system components in completing assigned tasks (i.e., storage systems, AWS infrastructure, Open Source technology stacks) Leads team of systems engineers to ensure timely and accurate performance of all team activities using state of the art DevOps practices. Manages change management and incident response through implementation of and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and continuous compliance monitoring systems. Collaborates with Elsevier technology, privacy, legal, procurement, finance and other support groups. Designs Disaster Recovery Plan, setup, testing, and ongoing maintenance systems . Works closely with development groups, support groups, and vendors to coordinate special operations, and communicate/escalate problems as appropriate to meet assigned . Reviews coding developed by less experienced staff members and assist in modifications of same for optimum performance and operation. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in state-of-the-art technology, including AWS, Google Platform and other cloud services, microservice architecture and web services Extensive experience developing and deploying products using current languages such as JavaScript and others (React, Angular, Node, etc.) Strong proficiency in state-of-the-art database technology using NOSQL data stores such as MongoDB and redis in a cloud-based environment. Expertise in data management and analytics technologies including data libraries and data lakes. Deep expertise in SaaS development and deployment technologies and methodologies Thorough knowledge of Microsoft stack and migration paths to more current technologies and databases. Deep knowledge in broad set of software languages and tools Familiarity with development languages including but not limited to:
Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .Net. Expertise in techniques for design and code reviews of offshore and onshore technical proposals. Proven ability to lead QA test-driven development and maintenance. Software DevOps process expert and knowledge of applicable methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). Expertise in industry technology language development trends. Proven expertise in the use and development of applicable desktop tool sets. Strong experience with various resource models such as Managed Services and/or Staff Augmentation. Customer Focus Has a solid understanding of customer requirements and can envision product solutions. Maintains close contact with customers to gain a sense for where the market is heading given multiple considerations. Leverages available analytics and other insights to better understand customer needs. Product Delivery & Development Lifecycle Has a thorough understanding of the broader product experience.
